God is good all the time, and all the time God is good! It’s catchy and it’s true, but do we really believe it? Duane Calvin takes us through the Book of Ecclesiastes to uncover the goodness of God and the source of real satisfaction.

Message Notes:
God is good all the time—and all the time, God is good!
As humans, we end up chasing thing after thing but never find true satisfaction.
Lie: We can find contentment or happiness by pursuing things apart from God.

Book of Ecclesiastes
-believed to be written by King Solomon
-lays out an example of a life lived in pursuit of happiness and fulfillment apart from God

Ecclesiastes 1:1-11 NLT
Vanity = meaningless (the pursuit of all things other than God is meaningless)
The author has chased the following things and ultimately found they can never replace God:

Wisdom (Ecclesiastes 1:13 NLT)
-wisdom can tell us what the problem is but has no power to solve it
-Ecclesiastes 1:14 NLT
-apart from God it leads to pride

Pleasure (Ecclesiastes 2:1 NLT)
-Pursuit of laughter, pleasure, wine, foolishness
-without God, pleasure leads to pain and disappointment

Work (Ecclesiastes 2:4-6 NLT)
-if your source of contentment is your job, that can easily be lost; if contentment/fulfillment come from God, nothing can take that away

Wealth (Eccelesiastes 2:8 NLT)
-those who love money will never have enough (Ecclesiastes 5:10 NLT)
-the more you have, the more people come to help you spend it (Ecclesiastes 5:11 NLT)
-the more money you have, the more you worry about losing it (Ecclesiastes 5:12 NLT)

Relationships
-1 Kings 11:3 NLT
-Like all the other things, we can’t control them and they don’t bring fulfillment

God is good, so we don’t have to look elsewhere for satisfaction.

God is great so I don’t have to be in control.

God is gracious so I don’t have to prove myself.

God is glorious so I don’t have to fear others.
